Since purchasing this mountain-top wine estate in 2007, winemaker Jeffrey Patterson has worked tirelessly to elevate Domaine Eden to the dazzling heights of his neighbouring operation, Mount Eden. This Chardonnay is a singularly brilliant white which effortlessly balances concentration and power with lightness of touch, a product of its mountainous home. Highlighted by immediate notes of bright fruit, this effortlessly enjoyable white is remarkably terroir expressive while retaining its light and elegant character. A true standout, this wine is just starting to evolve in a bottle; a sign that suggests great ageing potential.
94/100 - Made from a mix of 60% Domaine Eden and 40% Mount Eden fruit, the 2021 Chardonnay is always a sophisticated wine that overdelivers on its price point, with fresh floral aromatics leading to a medium-bodied mid-palate of beautifully oaked pear and hazelnut layered in juicy acidity.
