St Jacques is yet another stunning red from maverick vigneron Maxime Magnon. A blend of 30% each Mourvèdre, Grenache and Carignan, alongside 10% Cinsault, it was sourced from a plot of vines found not far from the sea. Like Maxime’s other red cuvées, the St Jacques is soulful, sunny and bold, drinking like a cru Beaujolais but imbued with the essense of the south of France. At once floral, bright fruited and earthy, it boasts the same windswept charm and expressive qualities one comes to expect from Magnon: seriously Southern, a touch renegade and disarmingly playful.

On the nose, pronounced aromatics notes of strawberry and raspberry, with hints of rose and cranberry.

On the palate, very aromatic and fruity. Flavours of vibrant red berries dance across the palate alongside touches of spice, while a firm acidity and delicate tannins lead the way to a long finsh.

Burgundian by birth, Maxime Magnon’s prodigious talent was not the product of a childhood spent running through the vines of a family estate. Born not to a vigneron, négociant, or winemaker, Maxime honed his skills through years spent working at some of France’s finest wineries: first under Jean Foillard in Morgon, and... Read More >>
