Another superb red from maverick vigneron Maxime Magnon, St Jacques is his lightest and most easy-going cuvée. A blend of 30% each Mourvèdre, Grenache and Carignan, with 10% Cinsault, it comes from old, biodynamically-farmed vines in Peyriac-de-Mer, close to the sea.

Like all of Magnon’s reds, it’s soulful, sun-filled and energetic - reminiscent of cru Beaujolais, but unmistakably southern in character.

Floral, bright-fruited and gently earthy, it captures Magnon’s signature style: joyful, charming, and just a little bit rebellious.

On the nose, it bursts with macerated strawberry and raspberry, layered with hints of white pepper, dried flowers, and blood orange.

The palate is juicy and vibrant, led by crunchy red berries and subtle spice. Fresh acidity and fine, delicate tannins carry through to a clean, lifted finish.

Serve lightly chilled.

Born not to a vigneron, négociant, or winemaker, Maxime honed his skills through years spent working at some of France’s finest wineries: first under Jean Foillard in Morgon, and... Read More >>
