The 2014 is the second vintage this wine was made by esteemed producer Conterno Fantino. The fruit is grown in a 1.3-hectare parcel, on calcareous silt and sand soil, planted in 1986. Typically among the most accessible and forward of the Barolo wines made by Conterno Fantino, this is in its prime drinking window now, combining beautifully intense Nebbiolo fragrance with a bright and polished texture.

Unusually silky and gracious for a Castelletto Barolo, the Pressenda is simply gorgeous. In 2014, the more floral, perfumed side of this Monforte cru comes through. Made with Nebbiolo grapes grown on steep slopes (30% gradient), between 340-360m on sandy soils, in the northern part of Monforte d'Alba. After a long fermentation in stainless steel vats, the wine was matured in French oak of various sizes.
