Value is not a word often associated with Bordeaux, yet this superb Merlot-dominant blend from 40-year-old vines planted in Lalande-de-Pomerol offers loads of it. Juicy and elegant, it sings of red cherry, purple flowers, cassis, and blueberry. Surprisingly drinkable in its youth yet capable of ageing for years to come, Moncets offers tremendous appeal at an exceptional price.
94/100 - Rich and concentrated, lots of liquorice spice and black pepper with some graphite and wet stones. Really ripe and perfumed, cherries and plums with some raisened edges and licks of sweet oak alongside some perfumed violet floral edges.
