Château Lyonnat are one of the few value-for-money producers still operating in Bordeaux, producing excellent Merlot-based Clarets from their estate in the south-eastern corner of Saint-Emilion. Grown on a variety of parcels planted atop limestone and clay, the 2021 is a blend of 85% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Medium-bodied and shining with notes of rich dark fruits, dried flowers, and spice, this is an excellent red capable of ageing for well over a decade.
