Regarded among the pioneers of the Grower Champagne movement, Francis Egly remains today one of its most authoritative voices. Joined by his daughter Clémence, they craft Champagnes of astonishing richness, power and remarkable capacity to age, predominantly from old-vine Pinot Noir grapes across the Grand Cru villages of Ambonnay, Verzenay and Bouzy.
Ratafia de Champagne is a liqueur produced in the style of a mistelle, where unfermented Champagne is fortified with Marc de Champagne, a distillate produced from the solids left from pressing. While most producers use leftover skins from low quality grapes for their ratafia, Francis Egly opts to use 100% Grand Cru, perfectly ripe Pinot Noir grapes. The result is a stunningly pure and intense expression of ratafia. (Bottled January 2025)
