Domaine La Ligière Muscat de Beaumes de Venise 2023

The fruit is sourced from three distinct plots. The diversity of soil types — ranging from pure sand to gravel and clay — provides winemaker Philippe Bernard with a rich palette from which to compose this harmonious wine. Unlike many examples of Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise we have tasted, the balance here is remarkable. Lower yields, early harvesting, and careful site selection preserve both vibrant natural acidity and the wine’s expressive Muscat aromatics, which beautifully counterbalance the generous alcohol and sweetness typical of this vin doux naturel.

On the nose, the wine bursts with aromas of white peach, orange blossom, lemon curd, and honeysuckle. The full-bodied, sweet, and fleshy palate shows surprising lightness and finesse, thanks to the wine’s refreshing acidity and a well-judged residual sugar of just 100 g/L (the minimum permitted by the appellation).
