Best known for their excellent Muscadets, the Perraud family of Domaine des Cognettes have been making wine in the region for nine generations. Champions of organic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking, they produce a superb range of wines from Melon Blanc, while their small but characterful red production is also well worth seeking out.

Le Pas Rouge is a juicy, uncomplicated expression of Gamay, a true vin de soif. Lighter than its more famous Beaujolais counterparts, it’s ideal served slightly chilled and is perfect for summer drinking. With its spicy edge, crunchy red fruit, light body, and mouth-watering acidity, it benefits from a short decant or a spell in a carafe to let the fruit open up. Enjoy with canapés, charcuterie, and light fare.
