Château La Voûte Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2021

In 2025, Patrick and Sylvie Javanaud - the couple behind Domaines des Moncets - acquired their first Saint-Émilion property, continuing their commitment to exceptional terroirs. The heart of this tiny, 3.93-hectare estate lies in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, at the highest point in the Saint-Émilion appellation. Its vineyards are planted predominantly with old Merlot vines, averaging 45 years of age. A thin, 20cm layer of clay over limestone naturally limits yields, while providing the structure and concentration required for extended ageing.

With less than 10,000 bottles made each year, this is a genuinely small, artisanal production.

90-92/100 - The 2021 La Voûte has attractive brambly red fruit on the nose, well-defined with light rose petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a little chewiness on the entry, but it coheres nicely on the mid-palate with pretty red fruit on the finish. This is worth seeking out.
