The Rim Rock vineyard is found in the Arroyo Grande Valley AVA, a cool-climate region in San Luis Obispo County where Rhône varietals thrive in higher elevations above the fog line. Located just 12km from the Pacific Ocean, this site produces complex, beguiling Syrah that sings with notes of dried flowers, black cherry fruit and bay leaf.
This 2016 comes directly from the winery, where it was stored for almost ten years. In the midst of its prime drinking window, offering soft tannins and complex tertiary flavours, yet still plenty of primary fruit and freshness. Simply irresistible.
On the palate, medium-bodied offering concentrated, powerful fruit flavours of pomegranate and red currant, with subtle nuances of cracked black pepper, smoked game, blood orange, and exotic spice. Beautifully structured with powdery tannins and sparks of juicy acidity, the long finish is highlighted by a distinct floral touch.
We recommend decanting it for at least an hour.
