Amélie and Charles Sparr are among the most exciting names in modern Alsace. Alsatian by birth, the couple comes from deep-rooted winemaking families. In 2017, they launched their own domaine, bringing together inherited terroirs, biodynamic conviction, and a distinctly modern vision. The result is a beautifully refined style of Alsace wine: dry, finely textured, and intensely expressive, with crystalline acidity and a strong mineral drive.
94/100 - Generous and juicy, but also flinty and tense (in the best sense), this is an exciting Alsace dry riesling at the deep end of the spectrum for this warm region. 94/100 - The 2023 Riesling Altenbourg is from vines planted in the 1950s, rooted in yellow limestone. The nose propels juicy ripeness of pear and adds lifted highlights of dried chamomile and apple tea. The palate is buffered but intense, with lovely concentration and a dried lemon- and chamomile-tinged brightness. This is fresh, cool, calm and absolutely bone dry. - Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous
A clear step up from the ‘Sentiment’ cuvée, this offers greater concentration and layers of complexity. The nose is layered with hints of petrol, candied bergamot and tangerine, ripe nectarine and wet stone. Fuller on the palate, yet supported by plenty of energising acidity, it finishes long, lingering and moreish.
