From high in the mountains of the northern Peloponnese, the vineyards of Tetramythos gaze out over the expansive Gulf of Corinth. At elevations between 650 and 1,000 metres, these vines are cooled by coastal winds that rise up from the water, creating sharp diurnal swings. These conditions, rare in southern Europe, are ideal for preserving freshness and nuance in native varieties like Mavro Kalavrytino, a grape single-handedly saved from extinction by the team at Tetramythos. Bright, juicy and mineral with a subtle savoury edge, this is a wonderfully expressive wine that’s built on restraint rather than exuberance.
On the palate, vividly acidic with a fine textural edge. Flavours of raspberry, grapefruit zest, sea salt, and white pepper abound.
