Dupuis is the latest project of acclaimed winemaker Wells Guthrie, the force behind the prodigious rise of Copain. Having sold up his stake and moved to the peaceful and isolated Anderson Valley, Wells has sought to strip his winemaking down to its bare bones, focusing on sourcing high-quality fruit which effortlessly expresses terroir and varietal expression.
This single-vineyard Pinot Noir is sourced from the Elswick Vineyard in Anderson Valley, and is perhaps the most complex within the Dupuis stunning range of Pinot Noirs. The wine beautifully merges concentrated dark fruit, pine resin and medicinal notes with generous body, structure and minerality, while remaining vibrant, fresh and elegant. A truly compelling Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, testament to Guthrie's talent and this vineyard's unique terroir.
Elswick Vineyard is located in Anderson Valley’s cool “deep end” - its north-western edge, near Philo. Here, marine air off the Pacific helps keep the climate cool and slows down grape ripening. The 40-acre property was first established in 1964, with 12 acres planted to Pinot Noir in 1997 by vineyardist Jim Barbour.
