In 2025, Patrick and Sylvie Javanaud - the couple behind Domaines des Moncets - acquired their first Saint-Émilion property, continuing their commitment to exceptional terroirs. The heart of this tiny, 3.93-hectare estate lies in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, at the highest point in the Saint-Émilion appellation. Its vineyards are planted predominantly with old Merlot vines, averaging 45 years of age. A thin, 20cm layer of clay over limestone naturally limits yields, while providing the structure and concentration required for extended ageing.

With less than 10,000 bottles made each year, this is a genuinely small, artisanal production.

95/100 - Unquestionably the finest wine I've tasted from this château is the 2020 Château La Voute, a dark, richly fruited, medium to full-bodied beauty displaying the vintage's balanced, pure, nicely structured style. Offering lots of Asian spices, graphite, and chalky minerality with time in the glass, this balanced, impeccably made, impressive 2020 will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and cruise for 15-20 years in cold cellars. Count me impressed, and I'd be a buyer. (Tasted 2023) – Jeb Dunnuck

92/100 - The 2020 La Voûte has a refined and focused bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, fine mineralité, touches of pressed iris flower commingling with cassis over time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, and fine depth. Cohesive, with beautifully integrated new oak towards the finish. This is a classy Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. (Tasted 2022) - Neal Martin, Vinous

93/100 - Dark in color, the wine already expresses its floral nature with blueberries, plums, spice, espresso and chocolate in the nose. The wine is full-bodied, rich, round and deep, with layers of lusciously-textured, silky, earthy, rich, ripe, fleshy fruits with loads of chocolate-tinted espresso that comes in at the end of the long finish. (Tasted 2022) - Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider

The estate is currently undergoing organic conversion, and the vines are managed with the same meticulous care as those at the flagship Chambrun estate in Lalande de Pomerol. Extreme attention is paid to grape selection, with only the finest bunches retained. Following 48 hours of cold maceration in stainless-steel vats, the wine is fermented and matured in new French oak barrels for 16 months.

92% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc.
