100/100 - Remains powerful and structured at 21 years old, a reflection of this exceptional vintage that is going to power through the decades. LI might suggest the 1990 (also opened that evening) if you are choosing what to drink now, but this is the vintage that grew in the glass, deserving of its exceptional reputation. Expect mint leaf, campfire, black truffle, violets, espresso, crushed roses, intense but graceful, showcasing all the beauty of Sassicaia, and the magic trick that it performs with Cabernet Sauvignon. A vintage that was sunny without temperature spikes, and the resulting wine is excepional. 24 months ageing in 33% new French oak, then kept back for a further six months in bottle before release.
