Domaine Henri Gouges - the defining estate of Nuits-Saint-Georges - ranks amongst the world's greatest producers of Pinot Noir. Family operated for over a century, current proprietors Grégory and Antoine continue to farm their family's 14ha and craft their wines in much the same way as their forbearers, focusing on delicate harvesting and winemaking techniques to best express their renowned terroir. This, their village bottling, is a superb red Burgundy, pure and generous with layer after layer of juicy fruit flavour. A blend of 5 climats around the heart of the village, this wine is a gorgeous window into Pinot Noir's most hallowed ground.
On the palate, medium-bodied with fine tannins, crisp acidity, and elegant use of oak. Flavours of damson and wild strawberry dominante, alongside touches of spice and hints of darker fruit flavours.
