Crafted from four diverse vineyards averaging 40 years in age, this Chardonnay balances tropical and floral notes with a surprising acidity and subtle creaminess. A mineral-rich, juicy delight, it's a Californian wine with a hint of Chablis-esque charm, pairing perfectly with seafood and zesty salads.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Sourced from 40-year-old vines spread across four organically farmed vineyards
Comparable to Chablis, embodying a clear, mineral-rich character
Named “Citrine” after its quartz-rich vineyards
TASTING PROFILE:
"Vibrant and intense, but balanced - as if the volume is turned up on all its parts equally. Briny citrus, orchard fruit, lacy white flowers and minerality are all on display. Dry extract gives the wine concentration and mid palate, while acidity holds the tension. It punches criminally above its weight, and should age as well as any vintage we have bottled."
"Pear, lime skin, early picked mango, lilac, clove, quartz dust, loaded palate with a prominent mineral finish."
IN THE VINEYARD:
A blend of four distinctive vineyards, each with an average age nearing 40 years
Rorick Heritage Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills, Haynes in Napa's Coombsville AVA, Heron Lake Vineyard in Napa's Wild Horse Valley AVA and Brosseau vineyard high up in the Gavalon Mountains
IN THE WINERY:
Gentle whole-cluster pressing, barrel fermentation with native yeast
Aged 12 months on lees; bottled unfined and unfiltered
Eco-conscious with the use of Plantcorc, a sugar cane-based cork alternative
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Exceptionally versatile, ideal with a range of seafood including lobster rolls, fresh crab or oysters
Complements creamy pasta dishes or a fresh, zesty salad
