This Côte-Rôtie is cultivated on two vertiginous hillsides, where the narrow Roman terraces have been “roasting” grapes since ancient times. It's thanks to the unique microclimate of Ampuis - defined by a happy combination of the southern sun and fresh humidity from Burgundy - that it's possible to produce such exceptional wines here. The Merlin Côte-Rôtie is a sublimely sensual wine, unfolding its delicate aromas in stages for a long, spectacular finish. This bottle is in half bottle format.
17/20 - Tasted blind. A meaty, spicy and gamey nose with a wild feel to it. The palate has good freshness beneath a sweet, plump fruit core, fine and detailed tannins and a rich and textured mouthfeel.
