Claudio Mariotto Braghé da Uve Freisa 2019

An older and lesser-known Piedmontese variety, Freisa is a close relative of Nebbiolo. Packing the same one-two punch of wonderful tannic structure and red fruit characteristics, it's a superb taste of the Piedmont at a much more accessible price point. This example was produced by Claudio Mariotto, whose family have been making wine near the old city of Tortona for over a century. Medium-bodied with soft yet well-structured tannins, the red fruit notes and subtle spice of this wine make it the perfect red for weeknight enjoyment.
